How do I obtain a marriage license?

Updated 08/24/2023

A marriage license must be applied for in person at the office of the Pembina County Clerk / Recorder. Both applicants must be present and provide the following: Full names, addresses, proof of date of birth, proper identification (i.e. driver's license - must be over 18 years of age). If an applicant was previously married, they must provide a CERTIFIED copy of their divorce decree for filing with the application. The license fee of $65.00 (check or cash only) is payable at the time of application. In ND there is no waiting period after you apply for the license, but the license must be used within 60 days (or it expires).
